Stone Soup!

For our Thanksgiving Feast we read the book "Stone Soup" and acted it out...making our own stone soup! It was fun for the students to dump it thier assigned food into the big pot and stir away. I cooked the soup during recess. One student said "I didn't know I was such a good cook!"

The villagers add thier food to the big pot...

and all share in the feast! Gobble, Gobble!

The Spooks Come Out On Halloween Night!

We have too much fun in class! Our Spook Parade was a success. Parents and grandparents came to watch their cuties perform and the students did a great job. Check out all the different costumes--and yes, I am a blue crayon (a perfect costume for a preschool teacher--don't you think?).
Reciting spooky poems...

and singing spooky songs!

Bb is for beautiful butterflies

Coloring and reading Bb wheels...
We made fuzzy pom pom caterpillars with clothespins. When the caterpillars were tired, the students put them in cocoons to sleep. When they woke up...clip on watercolor paper filters and tadaa! A beautiful butterfly! They really loved this activity and we made up stories and read books our caterpillars could star in.

The leaves were so beautiful outside that we collected a few at recess to make these cuties! We used the leaf stems as the antenna.

I'm going on a BUG HUNT!!

Every student caught a bug this year...Success! We caught grasshoppers, box elders, ants, beetles, and even a fly!

Where are you little buggies?......

This is what the finished bug catcher necklaces looked like--so cute!

Beading helps with hand/eye coordination and takes a lot of concentration.

Good job students!

Johnny Appleseed's Birthday

We made Johnny Appleseed out of apples and candy YUM!

We had a great apple day! The students were so funny-they couldn't remember his name so they kept calling him Johnny Applesauce or Johnny Apple Plant Man!

Backyard Olympics

Backyard Olympics is always so fun. Most preschoolers don't really know what the Olympics are so we read books, and watch a short clip to get excited. We had six events:
Gold Medal Time after Ceremony!

Frisbee Discus

Standing Long Jump

Balance Beam

Trampoline Gymnastics

Water Balloon Shot Put

50 Yard Dash
My camera was on the wrong setting the whole day so most of these pics are blurry--Sorry!

Bye Bye Butterfly!

One of my students brought a butterfly to preschool so that we could let it free. He had named it Bumblebee the Butterfly. When the morning warmed up we took him outside and let him fly high in the sky...oh the wonder of it all.
